Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Law Enforcement Officer/Behavioral Threats Detective - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities Include:
Assist with directing and overseeing all cases related to threat investigations, management and monitoring of persons of concern, and also provide assistance and resources as applicable to Baker Act Investigations and Risk Protection Orders (RPO's).
Work cohesively and closely with FAU's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), FAU's Office of the Dean of Students, and FAU's Victims Advocacy Center.
Foster working relationships with FAU's Victim Advocate, Deans and other appropriate University Personnel regarding persons of concern cases to provide support and ensure that these cases are managed and monitored appropriately.
Will be responsible for all assigned cases related to threat investigation, threat management and monitoring persons of concern and managing of risk protection orders.
Suggest and/or refer to resources as applicable to reoccurring Baker Act cases, and any other cases applicable to the role as deemed necessary by the Criminal Investigations Commander.
Represent the FAU Police Department at meetings, conferences, and other public functions related to threat management.
Interact frequently with neighboring threat management teams at the local, regional, state, and federal levels as required in this role.
Attend trainings with the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, regional team trainings, and offer annual in-house training for Florida Atlantic University staff on responding to threats.
Utilize tact and diplomacy, maintain dignity and self-control in handling a broad-range of high-level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities and respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
Must effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner to all personnel using verbal and written communications to coordinate personnel and resources in order to provide optimum law enforcement services in relation to threat management.
Need to maintain thorough and accurate records and reporting, utilizing threat management software and uniform reporting internal to the Police department.
Knowledge of police reporting, and the ability to learn institutional and police software systems are required to provide frequent and current updates to executive level management on threat management cases, via the chain of command.
Must comply with On Call responsibilities in alignment with other investigative functions within the agency.
Will work closely with on call Social Worker and / or licensed mental health clinician as required.
Must comply with all State and University Policies.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization required.
Formal and/or higher education in Psychology, Psychological Services or Social Work preferred.
Two years of military police or other appropriate experience may substitute for the required 2 years of law enforcement experience.
Two years of experience as a detective/investigator in threat management preferred.
Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) is preferred.
Must be currently certified as a Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida or have the ability to do so within six (6) months of employment and must meet the requirements of Chapter 943 Florida State Statutes.
